Kennedi Carter is a photographer and visual artist born in Charlottesville, Virginia and raised in Durham, North Carolina. Working across photography and archival practice, her work explores the aesthetics, spirituality and sociopolitical dimensions of Black life in the American South. Her WePresent-commissioned project “The water bring we, the water wanna take we back” traces ancestry, spirit, and survival along the Gullah-Geechee coastline.
