Jazmin Garcia is a director based in Los Angeles, whose practice is centered around short documentaries and music videos. Her work explores themes of immigration and cultural assimilation, using family histories and her own experience as a first-generation Mexican-Guatemalan-American to weave intimate stories of trauma, magic and hope. We featured her film “Trokas Duras,” which celebrates Los Angeles’ proud day laborers and the sense of pride and solidarity they share.
