WePresent by WeTransfer and Het Documentaire Paviljoen bring together two visual storytellers whose work seeks to disrupt established social perspectives. Visual artist Sanne de Wilde and photographer Sam Wright will engage in a conversation about their creative means, changing perspectives and personal experiences on their shared journey to document a different and perhaps more magical way of life.
The Artists
Sanne de Wilde explores the role of genetics, identity and perception through photo series such as ''Island of the Colorblind'' (2017), which portrays the world through the eyes of the Micronesian community with the rare achromatopsia-gen, causing complete color blindness, and ''Land of Ibeji'' (2020), which focuses on the celebration and rejection of twinhood in Nigerian culture.
For his most recent photographic project, ’’Pillar to Post'' (2024), Sam Wright has spent two years documenting the Traveller and Romani communities in the UK, whose nomadic way of life is under threat. His work challenges stereotypes by creating sincere and vulnerable connections with communities and uncovering the beauty in everyday life.
