Vladlena Sandu

Vladlena Olegovna Sandu is a Crimea-born film director, screenwriter and theater-maker whose work explores memory, war and displacement. We featured her film “Memory,” a retelling of hers and her friends and family’s experiences in war-torn Chechnya. A haunting blend of documentary and dream, personal recollection and collective trauma, its script was largely formed through recorded hypnotherapy sessions she attended.
