Tatsiana Chypsanava is a documentary photographer currently based in Nelson Whakatū, Aotearoa, New Zealand. Born and raised in Belarus with a father of Komi indigenous heritage, her work focuses on Indigenous rights, migration and environmental issues. She is a member of Diversify Photo and Women Photograph, both groups that champion diversity in the industry. We featured her World Press Photo Award-winning project that countered damaging media portrayals of New Zealand’s Ngāi Tūhoe through her photos of daily life, community and hope.
