Ryan Koopmans is a lens-based artist with dual Canadian & Dutch heritage. His focus lies in the built environment, its relationship with nature and the societies that evolve within it, often finding himself capturing the ways the manmade and natural world collide. We featured his project “The Wild Within,” made in collaboration with Alice Wexell, in which they digitally revived forgotten, abandoned spaces, giving them a 2nd life in the digital realm by injecting them with renderings of beautiful foliage, not only to breathe organic new life into them, but also to show the way nature will eventually overcome them.
