Myriam Meloni is a photographer based in Tangiers. Raised on the island of Sardinia, Meloni was naturally attracted to stories on the peripheries of society. She started in photography in her late twenties, after studying criminology in Barcelona and focusing on penal law, where she developed a deep interest in social justice. She later moved to Tangiers, Africa’s northernmost city, where Spain can be seen with the naked eye. Her lens first focused on the fate of Black African migrants who were in limbo in Tangiers after attempting the perilous crossing into Spain through Ceuta and Melilla. We featured her project “One Million Km,” which celebrates the lasting role of the Mercedes 240D in rural Moroccan life.
