Following careers in Olympic cycling, masonry, and cartooning, it took Max Leiva a few tries before discovering his deep passion for sculpture. Since then the Guatemalan artist has become well-known for his expressive figurative artworks. Inspired by his experiences traveling the world as well as his own multicultural upbringing, Max’s sculptures contain a plethora of influences—reflected in the variety of shapes, textures, and edges he works with. His pieces often take the form of human characters, exploring the way we interact with one another and the world around us. His works have been exhibited across the globe in institutions like the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano, Buenos Aires; the Museum of Latin American Art, Los Angeles; and the Olympic Museum, Switzerland.
