Imran Perretta is an artist, composer and filmmaker exploring power and the process of identity-forming for young Muslim men. His work is like a mirror to what society often tries to erase—his 2024 sound installation “A Requiem for the Dispossessed,” composed for the Manchester Camerata, breathes life into silence. It’s haunting, rich with tension and grace—self-taught yet deeply layered—and it marks a shift from his earlier cinematic pieces toward an immersive, musical reckoning with loss and memory. Perretta was selected by Riz Ahmed as part of his guest curatorship for WePresent.
