Alexey Shahov was born in Kyrgyzstan, and emigrated to the Czech Republic with his family at the age of 12. Despite having a fashion designer as a mother, art didn’t play a big part in Alexey’s early life—until he developed his own unique style. Working with a variety of mediums, both digital and physical, Alexey produces abstract, sometimes confronting artworks. Treating first drafts as final pieces and embracing imperfections, he takes inspiration from the impressionists and their rejection of traditional style and academic norms. To Alexey, showing the process is a big part of creativity. He prefers to leave his work looking intentionally unfinished and open to viewer interpretation.
