Australian animator Alex Grigg’s work is emotive and full of texture, depicting characters who are both visually playful but also universally symbolic—situating (often comedic) characters within a cultural context. For WePresent, Alex brought Trevor Noah’s thoughts on the weaponization of safe spaces to colorful life, and gave us a glimpse into his own creative process. His work has been heavily awarded from the likes of Webby (Honours in Art Direction), AEAF (for Best Opening Titles), Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Special Jury Prize), and Sydney Film Festival (with the Dendy Award for Best Animation)—alongside many other impressive accolades. Alex has also created work for the New York Times, BBC, Cartoon Network, and Coca Cola.
