Afrobeats musician Adekunle Gold is a Lagosian success story: born, raised and still living in Africa’s megacity. Born in 1987, Adekunle is signed to the legendary Def Jam Recordings. He rose to fame after receiving widespread acclaim for his 2015 hit single ‘Sade’, a highlife cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’. He’s collaborated with global artists such as Davido, Fatoumata Diawara, Lucky Daye, Stefflon Don, Foushee and TY Dolla $ign. Tracks on his latest album, the 2022 release ‘Catch Me If You Can’, were named “welcome additions to the pantheon of Afropop hits” by Pitchfork.
